That should give you full instructions on how to update the router. You can do a quick google search for the Netgear router user guide if you know the model number associated with it. I don't know which model of Netgear router you're using but you should be able to go into the administration screen on it and have it check for a firmware update. Remember, communication between a system and a router is a two-way street and both sides need to have compatible software. Different cards use different chipsets, and drivers, so it may simply be a case of updating the software in the router to work with the software and wireless card in the system.
